UCLA CARDIOLOGY FELLOWSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM The Divisions of Cardiology at the University of California, Los Angeles Center for the Health Sciences and Olive View-UCLA Medical Center are pleased to offer fellowship training in cardiology. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive training in clinical cardiology at one of the Nation’s most premier Medical Centers and Schools of Medicine. There are two training tracks offered, both of which offer exemplary clinical training in the practice of cardiovascular medicine.
The Clinical Training track offers comprehensive
clinical training in cardiovascular medicine over 2 years with one
additional year of clinical research. Additional sub-specialty in
Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Heart
Transplantation, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease is also available on a
selective basis. The second track known as the Specialty Training and
Advanced Research (STAR) track offers trainees the same comprehensive
clinical training over 2 years with additional intensive research training
in an innovative career track. This STAR program is intended for physicians
committed to academic careers. The UCLA Department of Medicine offers PhD
training combined with fellowship training as part of the research
training. STAR Awardees complete clinical training toward board
certification in cardiology as well as research training to complete a
masters, PhD or a postdoctoral fellowship under the guidance of a faculty
advisory panel representing the awardee’s clinical and research interests.
The Ph.D. is completed over a three to four year period for total of five to
six year training period. A masters of clinical investigations is completed
over a two to three year period for a total of four to five year training
period. Additional sub-specialty training is also available on a selective
basis. |
